Our Story
The story behind Gen 1 Meat Co.
Born from a simple idea. Built on quality, value and a passion for great meat.
Gen 1 Meat Co. was born from recognising a need in the Pretoria area: access to exceptional-quality meat, sourced directly from the farm and offered at affordable prices.
We believe that great meat shouldn't come with an excessive price tag. By building relationships with trusted farm suppliers, mainly in the heart of the Free State, we aim to bring quality, farm-sourced meat to your table.
But Gen 1 is about more than just meat.
The name Gen 1 is inspired by Genesis 1:28, a verse that speaks of fruitfulness, growth and the responsibility entrusted to us by God. It reflects the values at the heart of our business: faith, stewardship, hard work and a commitment to quality.
Our vision is simple: to make exceptional-quality meat more accessible to Pretoria households, with a personal, reliable and convenient way to buy directly from trusted farm sources.

Our lamb and beef is farm-sourced from the Free State in South Africa.
How do I order?
Send a WhatsApp message to 073 163 5066 with what you need and how you want it cut. You can also build an order list in our shop and send it to WhatsApp in one tap. We'll confirm a collection time with you.
How much does a whole lamb cost?
A whole or half lamb costs R145 per kg. It is cut to your preference and vacuum-packed in packs of 4 or 6.
Can I choose how my lamb is cut?
Yes. Whole and half lambs are cut to your preference. Neck comes as chops, half or whole; shoulder and leg whole, half or cut to size; shanks whole or cut to size; and plain riblets whole, cracked, halved or as riblets.
What marinated and braai products do you sell?
Our marinated and speciality range includes a boneless lamb roll (R265/kg, spices and fresh garlic, about 1.4–1.7 kg per roll), curry kebabs, curry riblets, lamb sausage, curry lamb sausage, liver in caul fat, marinated pork ribs, lamb tails and curry chops. For the braai we stock braai salt (190 g and 470 g), large braai sauce and large hot sauce. See every price in the shop.
Do you sell beef?
Yes. We sell beef boerewors (R155 per kg) and beef mince (R150 per kg).
Do you deliver?
Not at the moment. All orders are collection only, in the Pretoria area. We'll confirm the collection details with you on WhatsApp when you order.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve customers in the Pretoria area in Gauteng. Orders are collection only for now.
Are weights and prices exact?
Most products are priced per kg, so the final amount depends on the actual weight of your order. Weights and pack sizes are approximate where indicated.
